The Fall By Norah Jones

Norah has taken a new direction on the The Fall, experimenting with different sounds and a new set of collaborators, including Jacquire King, a noted producer and engineer who has worked with Kings of Leon, Tom Waits and Modest Mouse. Jones enlisted several songwriting collaborators, including Ryan Adams and Okkervil River’s Will Sheff, as well as her frequent partners Jesse Harris & Richard Julian. Musicians include drummers Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) and James Gadson (Bill Withers), keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green), and guitarists Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer). The first single/video is for the album’s lead track ‘Chasing Pirates’.

The Fall By Norah Jones Reviews From Customer Who Listen

Great Stuff!, December 1, 2009
By Michael R. Doyle “Mike D.” (Chico, Calif. USA)

I love this album. A friend who did not know about Norah Jones asked me if Norah is a perfectionist. I told her that she has to be to make an album like this. She seems relaxed, but some serious thought went into this music. The marketing is also interesting. This will make for a great Christmas present for many people.

Why the hate?, November 30, 2009
By Patrick E. Baroco Jr. (Norfolk, VA)

This is a departure from her previous sound. Not a radical departure, but it is not nearly as jazz-based as her previous albums. And if your interests are limited to vocal jazz, then this is not the album for you. But if what you want is a fantastic voice, thoughtful lyrics, and skilled arrangement, then you’ll love this album. People deride “pop” music, and with good justification. But this is not American Idol music–this is what you get when you bring real talent to popular sound. If Norah Jones were the rule and not the exception, I’d be an unabashed pop fan. Great album!
